  1. It is a transparent, top-down democratic process. Petunia Porcella President in Perpetua Swines Union Local 13
  2. We can't help it if our swine are meaner, leaner and more delicious than yours. Or fatter if that is what you like. We do not discriminate.
  3. What about valuable crap? I collect that and might be persuaded by the right buyer.
  4. Ah, but you do literally have to see them, if you read her novels. Not piles but enough "essentialized" bodies to get the message across. You can see the piles of looters and moochers who may not choose to live the Gulch , and therefore will live a subhuman life or no life at all. and serve them right.
  5. True, but that was no choice back then. |Most Gnostic records have been destroyed or suppressed, yet there are still living ones soon to follow. Most people I know are nonsense on stilts in some ways, yet still valuable, worth preserving.
  6. "Instant vision of destruction and piles of bodies" due to wrong or nasty ideas? Well, at least it makes you cross. Such visions make some so=called Objectivists jubilant. I do not agree with Oism it is true, and oppose its practical political ramifications. But I never have thought of its advancement as resulting in mass murder or its proponents as advocating it. Rand's early trauma at the hands of the Bolsheviks really did a number on a lot of people.
  7. Real world insight is something of an oxymoron, if you do not believe as I do not, that the interior world of an individual is the only real world.
  8. Not having followed this thread, did Helen Keller ever have anything to say about this>
  9. I admit \Tony, that when I mentioned her anger I was thinking mainly of something I read about her notations in books of people she did not agree with, eg "Bastard! Evil! Liar " etc. Intellectual anger. Your postpartum metaphor so aligns with something I was thought of writing, but didn't, that I will say no more. Already MSK has noted that I use the jargon, and I fear the slippery slope. What if my hair turns orange? I have an irrational repulsion to orange hair a it always reminds me of pureed squash.
  10. Mikee, thanks, I think. Fred Bartlett is insightful like I am a chess master, or a world class penalty killer.
  11. The Romantic Realism of storming in with a scornful smile on one's face, was fine for the Scarlet Pimpernel. It does not work so well with real people who expect real evidence of real achievements and are sceptical of pseudonyms. If Fred Bartlett is not your real name, was your grandfather also not a real convict, but just an ordinary farmer trying to get out of Italy?
  12. It was a real enquiry. I looked at your profile and saw your real name and I googled it, because I was curious. You would not be in my local yellow pages, and you have now said you are under the radar. That is taken into consideration of course. The context is, I have entered into conversation with you in good faith, and my own work area and personal circumstances would be well known to you if you bothered to check out any of my 8 million posts. which nobody would. Maybe you a resident of Old Nick's kingdom in ONGTH and I just do not recognize you. And it's "feel bad", not "feel badly." I would never speculate about the cognitive process of your emotions.
  13. There is also of course, rand's famous insistence that the tv aerial she saw was a tree, because her senses told her so.
  14. The senses intersect when brain alteration occurs. Even when not, it is a regular occurrence in synaesthesia which I have commented on here. Regularly lightning - struck or brain traumatized people wake up from comas "seeing sounds" or "tasting colours" or whatever. I understand this was regular with LSD users.
  15. Coincidentally I read a fascinating article today about the sect which follows John the Baptist. the oldest surviving Gnostic community in the world. They are not Christians, they are a historical artefact with 100,000 adherents. soon to be destroyed like everything else worth preserving in that cursed country. The loss of their historical legacy, and their precious individual lives, will go up in flames like the destruction of the library at Alexandria.
  16. lol Baal, you know the Bible does not mention disproportion. That is the trouble with it, it is too black and white.
  17. PS Are you the Fred Bartlett Roofing and Siding? Looks like a good company, I would hire you. Serious. Not many roofers and siders hire union labour, even here. Actually, none of them do that I know of.
  18. Take heart, your principled behaviour has had an impact on the economy. You and your co-thinkers have helped employers to shed employees, and potential workers to believe themselves independent and empowered, when in fact they are disadvantaged . Great job!
  19. Four thumbs up - Jerry from Edmonton
  20. RB, apologies if the above reference is obscure to you, but it definitely pertains to therapy. The thread is "A New Architecture, Couture:."
  21. Maybe we should hook up RB with Mr Ben in his lonely crusade against the despotic architecture regulations of Ohio. That should be a creative enough challenge for two men. Mikee, you better help him. Between the two of you you should be able to customize Roark's speech and wow the jury.
  22. Moralist, just curious - do acquaintances in real life ever describe you as "smug"?
  23. I wish Canada had an exit tax retroactive to when Lord Black renounced his citizenship! He would have evaded paying it though.
