  1. Actually I am 113,Bill just chivalrously shaved off five years. Hope this clears up any confusion. Thanks all for the shoutouts, which I didn't expect till my "OL birthday" in Feb. Ohwell, my poor mother never had birthdays at all since she was born on Dec. 25, so it is only right that I get two.
  2. Ouch, horrible. Upside, still in playoffs., and nobody got hurt. Now tabula rasa.
  3. You seem to be correct. The latest Rand news on there is about her benzedrine use in the 1940s. stop the presses.
  4. We need to request? Cripes. I just added her. Maybe I don't have as many friends as i thought.
  5. Me too Cathy, although maybe in not the way you are. I believe in the revolutionry message of Christ, whether or not he actually existed. About there being a God, I don't believe my mind is capable of knowing that.
  6. Unconquerable: the Brian Burke Story (Nobody Gossips about ME and Gets Away with It!) How I Let the Whole World know my Personal Business Which Previously Interested Very Few) for I hope Profit.
  7. For any browsers who have stumbled on this thread thinking there would be any intellectual content, sorry guys. The Stanley Cup is acknowledged in the professional sports business as the most difficult championship to win. Even reaching the quarterfinals is ridiculously hard. And no, Ayn Rand never said anything about it.
  8. Just checked the new content and note that below this is "Benefits of Selective Wilful Evasion". All of Leafs Nation is reaping those benefits now in carefree joy.
  9. Thanks Marc! I said that I didn't care what happens as long as the drought has ended but of course I hope we win the first round, new icing on a nine year old cake tastes the sweetest. Due to my TV troubles I cannot even get the wisdom of Inderpreet and his dad, am following the game on live blogs and win or lose will have to go down to the pub for the end of the season. In danger of becoming drunk as a lord, I mean lady (why is the editor not working)? Isn't it great when it is a one anthem game?
  10. Sorry if you all have heard this one already. Shmuel and Eleazer are arguing outside the yeshiva. Shmuel thunders passages from the Talmud and Eleazer roars back that he knows the true intent of the passages; God has spoken the truth to his spirit. Their adherents jostle, cheer and jeer. The voice of God booms from above: "Shmuel, give it up! Heed Eleazer, the guy is right!" And Shmuel tells God to shut up, because he, Shmuel, HAS IT IN WRITING.
  11. Eric Margolis is a Canadian guy with a family fortune from some kind of vitamins or diet pills (I would have to look it up) He seems to have had some former CIA connection and used to publish commentary in the local rightwing tabloid, the Toronto Sun. Sole content provider of SUNTV (Fox North) which is currently begging the government for free cable access. Of which I might provide more info, it is an entertaining media story.
  12. I noticed her there and she posted something so similar to what I did here, that I mentioned her upthread. If she thinks like me she must be good people!
  13. Gee. Where does that leave me? In an intellectual wheelchair with halitosis? --Brant I want what Johnny got! No, no Brant. The wheelchair is a triumphal chariot, and the halitosis is from the slave whispering in your ear.Now there is Carol at her best, as, an artful, Aparachick [sp ?]... You go girl! A... Wait a minute! Don't I get credit for continually setting her up? --Brant All the credit, Georgie dear. -Gracie
  14. It is good fun following remaining wackos though. Did you notice, Dog B, is now sweet-talking Cathy? !!! After receiving an honourable proposal from a prominent Objectivist too. We knew the guy was desperate, but hitting on a married woman... oh wait, he is a true-blue Randian. It must be OK.
  15. The coach of the Rangers is being compared with someone between the fired Rutgers coach and Ghengis Khan, in terms of how he interfaces with the troops!Ah, Tortorella - That comparison is too unkind to Genghis Khan!
  16. A... Thanks Adam! The spelling is brilliant. I do feel on my game recently, like the Leafs! Four CDN teams in playoffs, Rangers and Islanders both, ... can't hardly wait.

  18. Housman read them too, I would venture. "Good people, do you love your lives And have you ears for sense? I have a knife like other knives that cost me thirteen pence. I need but stick it in my heart And down will come the sky And Earth's foundations will depart And all you folk will die."
  19. What you said. If I were Cathy I would get a bio and just look up the Frank references, skipping the narrative.
  20. Now I know why you put up with me, Mr and Mrs Kelly.
  21. Yes, we are all just like each other when it comes down to it, and I am glad you have your sister and children to love, and sustained through your hard years the ability to love them.
  22. Cathy, this is a gripping story. Two generations of O'Connors, abused and dispossessed by stepmothers - by weak fathers, by betrayal--it strikes me very personally. My whole family descends from a stepmother, who raised 8 stepchildren after the death of her husband after four years of marriage. She was the onl grandmother I knew. How strange life is. You and your sister are indeed the last of your O'Connors, and I am among the Excess of our Stuarts.
  23. Cathy, it is spooky, Claire on Solo just made a so similar comment to mine, down to the prayers! In case you are getting weirded out about the Internet, Claire is not me. Maybe she is just a mother also, or just a sensible person... there actually are a lot of them here.
  24. You bet bro. And the sweet Atlantic breezes are timeless! Yes Ma'am, God Bless you, Ma'am!. I heared dat de played dat Battle Hymn at de library today. Same one dat dem republcans sang while dee freed us, unda dat tall white man dat de shot it de head! Thank you Sir, and that blessed hymn resounds wherever freedom lovers wham!
  25. Oh, Cathy, All families are full of those things, and as I mentioned before, you were cut off from that branch of your family so young. The O'Connors did betray you,yes they did, families betray and lie . And they remember, as you are doing, and that is the most we can do.
