    Poltiics always dominate K-12 soft subjects, you would probably say, Adam. Social sciences etc. Literature maybe. But science? Kids always sense controversy. Apply science first, real basic science. Do not start w/ competitive ideas, based on complex science, and beyond a 12 year olds scope, even smartest 12 year old.
