syrakusos
First, it depends on whether you actually pay hard money for a real assessment by a qualified monitor, or if you just go online and get a little piece of the pie. Online assessments are free because they are incomplete. Also, they tend to be discrete, rather than continuous, in their scoring. You answer five questions and are declared "Intuitive" even if two those were the answers given by typically Sensing persons. Here are my scores from three websites.Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is: ENTJ,Extroversion: 60%iNtutitive: 65%Thinking: 80%Judging: 70%http://psychology-tools.com/myers-briggs-type-indicator/score.phpThis, as you can see, gave continuous results. I am heavily a Thinking person, and not so dedicated to Extroversion at parties full of strangers, though I can handle it well enough. http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.htmlI S T PStill a strong Thinker, but they just asked different questions or worded them differently. Myself, just for instance, I like structured situations in which I can be the unstructured element. Then, I tried.http://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/personality/]Your Result Extroversion (E)Your Result Sensing (S)Your Result Thinking (T)Your Result Judging (J)ESTJ - Again a Thinker, Test 1 E N T J2 I S T P3 E S T JTo me, this looks likeEi Sn TT Jp.Mostly extroverted, mostly sensing, strongly thinking, mostly judgmental. william.scherk
Michael Marotta, what is the price for a full-on, presumably competent finding? Have you paid for the full treatment?
syrakusos
Start with the Myer Briggs Foundation http://www.myersbriggs.org/ and follow the links to the Network of Practioners. I paid $35 about 20 years ago. Inflation is a burden. You can take the Foundation's online assessment for $175. studiodekadent
I've found MBTI stuff to be very telling and quite useful. I'm an INTP, most of my friends are INTJs, Rand was an INTJ and libertarians are 80% NT... Objectivists are 85% NT. NT types are the rarest personality types in the general population. caroljane
I took two qucki tests and came up INTP both times... surprised to see they say it is only 5% of the population....I thought we were everywhere
Michael Stuart Kelly
Live inside my own head much?I just returned from Tim Hortons where I ordered a Large Black Metaphor. Not kidding.Carol,That is exactly what marketing is all about. When it's good, it's great. For instance, if you don't realize the head stuff, the coffee tastes really good. Once you do realize it, the coffee tastes so much better. With a poor quality product, it's kind of funny. If you don't realize the head stuff, you get excited, but later let down with the fizzle of actually using the pathetic product. But no biggie as you move on to other things. If you do realize it, you get really pissed off. tw - Sustainable caffeine to save the planet doesn't do it for me, but I will never quibble over what metaphor rings your ding-a-ling. Drink deep, dear Daunce, and wake up and smell the coffee. You can brew a rain forest while I brew a pot of adventure and it's all good. Kat
Mr. Pot of Adventure has never taken the test. Mrs. Pot of Adventure has, both online and professionally, and the result was INTP. We are a rare but fabulous personality type!
SoAMadDeathWish
I got ENTP. (man, sure is introverted in here)"Clever" is the word that perhaps describes ENTPs best. The professor who juggles half a dozen ideas for research papers and grant proposals in his mind while giving a highly entertaining lecture on an abstruse subject is a classic example of the type. So is the stand-up comedian whose lampoons are both funny and incisively accurate.ENTPs are usually verbally as well as cerebrally quick, and generally love to argue--both for its own sake, and to show off their debating skills. ENTPs tend to have a perverse sense of humor as well, and enjoy playing devil's advocate. This sometimes confuses, even angers, those who don't understand or accept the concept of argument as a sport.ENTPs are as innovative and ingenious at problem-solving as they are at verbal gymnastics; on occasion, however, they manage to outsmart themselves. ENTPs can be prone to "sharp practice" – especially cutting corners without regard to the rules if it's expedient – or, their juggling acts may simply be so over-ambitious they collapse. Both at work and at home, ENTPs are very fond of "toys" -- physical or intellectual, the more sophisticated the better. Once these have been "solved" or become too familiar, however, they’ll be replaced with new ones.ENTPs are basically optimists, but in spite of this (perhaps because of it?), they can become petulant about small setbacks and inconveniences. (Major setbacks they regard as challenges, and tackle with determination.) ENTPs have little patience with those they consider wrongheaded or unintelligent, and show little restraint in demonstrating this. In general, however, they are genial, even charming, when not being harassed by life.In terms of their relationships with others, ENTPs are capable of bonding very closely and suddenly with their loved ones. Some appear deceptively offhand with their nearest and dearest; others are so demonstrative that they succeed in shocking co-workers who've only seen their professional side. ENTPs are also quick to spot a kindred spirit, and good at acquiring friends of similar temperament and interests.ENTPs may sometimes give the impression of being largely oblivious to the rest of humanity except as an audience: good, bad, or potential. In general this is unfair – but it can be difficult to get an ENTP’s attention when they’re not immediately aware of you, especially for an Introvert. The best approach in communicating with an ENTP is to be straightforward. No games – they’ll win. No "pulling rank" – they’ll just want to put you in your place. No apologies – you’ll undermine yourself. Try "I need/want to talk to you."This... explains a lot... o.
