moralist
God almighty! Our Fearless Leader is truly our Feckless Leader. He is a disgrace. He is going to come out looking worse than Jimmy Carter if such a thing is possible. That's bound to happen when weak feminized liberal males are elected Presidents. He is such a pussy! It's to be expected when you consider what elected him. People actually do create the government in their own image.
Harrison Danneskold
What's scary is that putin was voluntarily elected (not to mention Obama). And I don't think he's just a general pushover; Obama seems perfectly capable of taking a stand against freedom, selfishness ("greed") and prosperity (keystone). He only becomes spineless when dealing with miserable people.

caroljane
Incidentally, a singularly illtimed book has come out here recently. The author posits that a union between the US and Canada would make total economic sense and be desirable to any rational person. I mention this because I know the author, Diane Francis, very slightly. She is a business writer with an amazing network in Canadian media and publishing. This book must have seemed like a good provocative idea at the time. I am sure it will prove unique to some thinktank mills .some of them maybe helped finance it. caroljane
Democracy in America helped ensure that those atrocities were shown for what they were, and prosecuted. Not the local thought majorities, not the state legislators, but the exerted power of a democratically elected federal government, acting to promote the general welfare and protect life and liberty to those who had been deprived of them. We elect leaders with limited powers that collide against each other within that republic framework. That's why what has worked has worked so far. An excess of democracy has actually undermined that at times and allowed the government to grow to the monster size it now is. This democracy thing is a meme that needs to die dead, expired, and no longer among the living if we want to keep the good times rolling. When major civilizations collapse, it's not pretty. I think it is a form of mental laziness or maybe cognitive bias. People go to the polls to vote, so they automatically assume the government itself is a democracyTo realize that the USA government, instead, uses democracy only in specific limited functions requires looking at the nature of government and a bit of study. I imagine most people are too busy leading their daily lives to care so long as things work more or less the way they are supposed to.Michael
