John Dailey
Barbara, R.Bidinotto:~ 'Feelings'-wise, totally agreed; but, MSK has a point about 'the law', as I intimated I empathized about. This concern about our police, unfortunately has been colored by too many mal-occurrences, as you know (think SERPICO [the book; not just the movie] and HONOR THY FATHER.) ~ I've not pursued this case in depth (nor shall I) re all the details of 'actual' occurrences, (so busy following Paris and Britney, you know...the REAL 'news' stuff) but, MSK's concerns should not be pish-poshed, at the moment. Let's see what the 'trial' turns out to be. (Hope Cochran isn't involved.)LLAPJ:DPS: I do hope that OJ was as stupid as the situation seems to show (a 'personal' STING operation in a casino's hotel-room, with no com with local police or the hotel's security on this :getlost: ?) Fortunately, Nevada is not like Californicatingya...so far. Edited September 20, 2007 by John Dailey

Barbara Branden
Michael, you wrote, "Now imagine this being someone other than Simpson recovering say, stolen jewelry (or what he believed to be). Would he get this shopping list of charges? Including two counts of first degree kidnapping added to conspiracy to kidnap? Come on. Sorry, but I do not see a correct correspondence. This is overkill bordering on harassment and I would bet that it will be one of the reasons Simpson beats this."Yes, anyone else would and does get precisely this shopping list of charges under the same circumstances. So say defense attorneys and prosecuting attorneys alike, from several different states. interviewed on various news shows.Barbara
Brant Gaede
I resent finding moral equivalence between Las Vegas law enforcement and Simpson.Brant,Then you did not understand what I was saying. Morality is about as far from this issue as can be. The issues are revenge, publicity, incompetence and, on the part of Simpson, cohorts and victims, two-bit thuggery.Michael?!--Brant

What DO a black man sound like? He sure was a piss-cutter. I don't know if Cochran ever made Harvard Law Review but he had the chops for it, so that question, asked in the vernacular, is a doozey. Michael Stuart Kelly
Yes, anyone else would and does get precisely this shopping list of charges under the same circumstances. So say defense attorneys and prosecuting attorneys alike, from several different states. interviewed on various news shows.Barbara,What shows are you watching? I turned on the TV yesterday and, admittedly, I only saw CNN and Fox News, (several shows) but the general consensus was that the list of charges was made in haste, more investigation should have been done, and although the prosecutors were sitting on information not available to the public, they will probably regret some of the charges they made since they are now at risk of looking like Marcia Clark. I heard the phrase several times of something to the effect, "If this were not OJ, this matter would not even have gotten to court." I heard that on Nancy Grace, Anderson Cooper, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. (I have the habit of jumping to the news during the commercials on shows I like to watch.) The people interviewed were people like Mark Geragos and other standard fare in attorneys and judges (I don't keep up with all their names). Another thing they all said was that the shady nature all round of the people involved that is emerging is something that normally makes prosecutors not care all that much. "A pox on all your houses" is a phrase I heard (I think it was Glenn Beck) to describe this attitude. They may be saying other things on other shows, but this is what I saw.Michael
